Say YES to a health day

Release stress, achieve an increased feeling of inner peace and self awareness, find clarity. Say YES to a health day! Do only what makes you feel good for one day and it's free.

Choose a day where distractions are low. Like when the kids are in school or your significant other is out of the house. Pre-plan the day before so you will have everything you need. Turn off the phone if you can or set it to vibrate or silent, only checking it occasionally. Only allow yourself one hour of household tasks. Ignore the laundry, it will be there tomorrow. Best if you have to pack lunches or anything for your family to do it the night before.
  1. Get up a little early and say to yourself "this day is for me".
  2. Brush your teeth, and wash your face. It's about how you feel, not what you eat or how much exercise you get, so enjoy yourself.
  3. Enjoy your favorite coffee or tea for the first half hour, or make yourself a skinny vanilla latte (that's my favorite).
  4. Do light yoga or the exercise of your choice for 20-30 minutes. Remember this day is for you and your well being, so it's up to you.
  5. Meditate for 15-20 minutes or enjoy silence without thinking. I find meditation is more satisfying after yoga, my muscles aren't tight and my body is stretched and relaxed.
  6. Fix your favorite light breakfast with plenty of protein and vitamins. It doesn't have to be breakfast foods, choose something you enjoy. Consciously be grateful for your mind and body as you chew your food.
  7. Listen to calming music and read literature that fuels your soul and inspires you. I prefer audio books as it is effortless and usually has music. My favorites; The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, Intuitive Self-Healing by Marie Manuchehri, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, Creating Affluence by Deepak Chopra, and Attitudes of Gratitude by M.J Ryan.
  8. Take a long hot bath only washing the basics, no leg shaving or mundane tasks. Light a few candles or use a bath wash with invigorating scents. Only allow yourself to think positive thoughts. Release any negative thoughts that do not serve you.
  9. After a light lunch, take a walk outside and breath-in nature. Be conscious of how you feel, appreciating the beauty and energy around you.
  10. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon your way.
If you have habits such as enjoying your favorite soft drink, drinking alcohol, smoking, or a sweet tooth, just cut back for the day. It's about feeling good, not making yourself crazy. Drink plenty of fresh cold water.

You may only get a few hours of pure relaxation, so make the best of it.

Prepare your mind for the chaos of the evening hours and keep dinner simple.

That night as you go to bed, reflect on your day. Allow only the positive things you accomplished that truly nourished you to enter your mind. Make a list of what you enjoyed most, either mentally or on paper. Close your eyes and smile. Then make a date with yourself again in the near future. You won't believe how amazing you feel...

If you have any ideas on how to make this day even better, please feel free to leave a comment...
